Nicole is originally from the Olympia area, where she graduated from Capital High School before earning a B.A. in Psychology from Saint Martin’s University. She went on to serve as a police officer and detective for the Olympia Police Department, where she honed her leadership, decision-making, and mentorship skills in high-pressure environments. After retiring from law enforcement in 2023, Nicole transitioned to working as an assistant autopsy technician and is currently a campus supervisor for a local school district, continuing her dedication to youth development.
Nicole’s passion for softball began early. She played for Capital High School and competed at the gold level in travel softball with teams such as NW Outlaws, Purple Haze, Friction Fastpitch, and Olympia Mustangs. Her competitive spirit led her to participate in numerous national, regional, World Series, and college exposure tournaments across the United States. Known for her versatility as a left-handed hitter, Nicole excelled as both a power hitter and a slapper, with strong drag bunting skills. She primarily played outfield, first base, and pitcher.
As the primary pitching coach at NW Outlaw Athletics, Nicole brings a deep understanding of pitching mechanics, mental resilience, and game strategy. She specializes in refining outfielders, first basemen, and left-handed hitters, tailoring her coaching approach to each athlete’s unique skill set.
Nicole’s coaching career began in 2011 at NW Christian High School, where she led the team to its first-ever district tournament appearance. She has since coached at the Fastpitch NW College Exposure Tournament and returned to Capital High School as an assistant varsity coach for multiple seasons (2019, 2020, 2021, and 2023). Holding several NFHS coaching certifications, she has also worked extensively with athletes in private hitting and pitching lessons.
Nicole brings a wealth of experience, technical expertise, and a personalized approach to coaching. She is committed to developing strong, well-rounded players, emphasizing both fundamental skills and mental toughness to help athletes reach their highest potential.
Amanda hails from Lewis County, where she graduated from Centralia High School as a multi-sport standout athlete. Her exceptional performance across multiple sports, combined with her dedication to academics, earned her the title of Female Athlete of the Year in 2008. This recognition highlights her commitment to cross-training, an approach she actively promotes to develop well-rounded, high-performing athletes.
Amanda continued her academic and athletic journey at Youngstown State University in Ohio, where she earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering and played Division I softball on a full athletic scholarship. As a freshman, she secured the starting catcher position, proving her ability to compete and lead at the highest collegiate level.
After college, Amanda joined the Army National Guard, where she served as a company commander for an engineering unit in Washington. Now that she has transitioned out of the military, she is fully focused on coaching and athlete development, bringing a disciplined, leadership-driven approach to her training sessions.
Amanda’s softball career includes competing at the gold level in travel ball for teams such as NW Outlaws and Sidewinders. She played in numerous national, regional, World Series, and college exposure tournaments across the country, primarily as a catcher, second baseman, and first baseman.
As the primary catching coach at NW Outlaw Athletics, Amanda leverages her extensive behind-the-plate expertise, game strategy knowledge, and defensive mechanics training to help athletes refine their catching skills. She also specializes in coaching infielders and batters, providing structured, detailed instruction to enhance both defensive and offensive performance.
Amanda began her coaching career in 2020 as an assistant varsity softball coach at Howland High School in Ohio. She later joined Capital High School in Washington as an assistant varsity coach in 2021. With extensive experience in private hitting and catcher training, Amanda is dedicated to helping players develop their technique, mental resilience, and game intelligence.
Amanda brings discipline, expertise, and a passion for mentorship to her coaching. She strongly believes in the benefits of cross-training, encouraging athletes to develop diverse skill sets that enhance their overall performance, prevent injuries, and prepare them for higher-level competition.
